Isokinetic Contraction - Isokinetic contractions can refer to either a concentric or eccentric contraction. Isokinetic contraction occurs at a set speed against a force of maximal resistance produced at all points in the range of motion. This contraction type is performed under controlled same - speed conditions.
Prefontaine, Steve - Former University of Oregon great, "Pre" placed a gutsy fourth in the Olympic 5000m in Munich in 1972. He also won 25 straight races over a mile at Harvald Field (and never lost). In High School, he set a 2 mile High School record with 8.41,5. "Pre" was also the first person to win 4 NCAA championships in the same race. For five years no American beat him in a race over a mile. He ran under 4 minutes for the mile 9 times. Died in a car crash 1975. When he died, he held the American record for every distance from the 2000m to the 10000m.
